Eligibility Criteria of CSS Exam 2025 Pakistan

FPSC has cleared the eligibility criteria of CSS exam according to the Pakistan Civil service recruitment. CSS is a federal level exam in Pakistan to join civil service/bureaucracy. Males and females must know the eligibility criteria of CSS exam 2025.

Required Education Degree for CSS Exam

  • Must be from a university recognized by Pakistan’s HEC with at least a second division or “C” grade (14 years of education).
  • If the degree is not available by the cut-off date (31 December), a Provisional Certificate must be submitted. The original degree must be provided before the FPSC announces the final result.
  • Candidates with a third division (“D” grade) in their bachelor’s degree are eligible if they have a higher division/grade in a master’s degree.

Age Limit for CSS Exam

The minimum age is 21 years, and the maximum age is 30 years, as of the cut-off date. Typically, the cut-off date for the CSS exam is 31 December of the year in which the exam is announced (the year of advertisement).

CSS Age Relaxation Policy

Government Employees/Armed Forces: Age relaxation for those with at least 2 years of continuous service as of the cut-off date, excluding employees of nationalized banks, State Bank of Pakistan, WAPDA, regulatory bodies, and semi-autonomous organizations.

Special Candidates: 

  • Visually, physically, or hearing impaired.
  • Members of the Buddhist community or scheduled castes.
  • Permanent residents of Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan, or Azad Kashmir.

Recognized Tribes:

Families permanently residing in:

  • Former Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur districts (excluding Baloch area).
  • Tribal areas of D.I. Khan and Peshawar Divisions (Dir, Swat, Chitral, Amb).
  • Former Hazara and Mardan Tribal Areas.
  • Upper Tanawal area of Hazara Division.

Required Domicile for CSS Exam

Positions in Occupational Groups and Services are filled based on Federal Government rules. As a result, applicants must provide a domicile certificate from the appropriate licensing authority. Once the Commission approves a candidate’s domicile for the competitive exam, it is final. No changes will be allowed in future exams or selections.

Nationality for CSS Exam in Pakistan

  • The candidate must be a resident of Jammu & Kashmir or a citizen of Pakistan.
  • A Pakistani citizen cannot take the competitive exam if they are married to a foreign national. However, if the candidate received approval from the federal government before getting married, they are still eligible.
